Remembering Sandra Stokes

Sandra Ann Stokes, 54, of Lapeer, passed away on July 4, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Sandra was born on October 15, 1971, and throughout her life she was known as a kind, intelligent, and passionate woman whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around her. She carried herself with grace and quiet determination, and she touched the lives of many through her warmth, her thoughtful nature, and the genuine care she showed to others. Sandra had a gift for making people feel welcome, heard, and valued, and her memory will remain a treasured part of the hearts of all who knew her. Sandra earned her bachelor's degree, an accomplishment that reflected her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to learning. She valued education and carried that same spirit of curiosity and intelligence into every part of her life. Whether she was sharing a conversation, offering encouragement, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Sandra brought thoughtfulness and sincerity to all she did. She had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life and found happiness in games, reading, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Family was the center of Sandra's life, and she cherished the people she loved with all her heart. She is survived by her husband, Tony; mother Hazel Headley, her children, Haylee Derrig and Nicholas Greene and his fiancée, Cammie; her grandson, Jaxson; and her siblings, Cheryl Clark and her husband John, James Orr, Ken Headley, Angie Anderson, and Brandi Kenyon. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her close in memory. Sandra's love for her family was steadfast and unconditional, and she took great pride in the bonds she shared with them. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Charles Orr, and her stepdad, Duane Headley. Their memories remained an important part of her life, and she carried their influence with her always. The love of family, both those who went before her and those who remain, was a guiding force in Sandra's journey and a source of strength throughout her years. Among the many joys in Sandra's life was her beloved dog, Zuko, who brought companionship and comfort to her days. She found delight in the loyal presence of her pet and in the everyday moments that made life meaningful. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the quiet pleasure of a good book, as well as the laughter and connection that came from games and shared time with others
