Remembering Camille Stewart

Sep 18, 1988 - Aug 24, 2026

Some people simply move through the world. Camille Stewart left a mark on it. Known lovingly as Milly or Millz by those closest to her, Camille was vibrant, genuine, deeply, loving, and honest, straightforward, and never afraid to tell you exactly what you needed to hear. That authenticity was one of the many reasons so many people loved her. Camille was born on September 18, 1988, in Chesapeake, Virginia, to David and Jennifer Gibbs. She passed away on August 24, 2026. As their only child, she created a family that extended far beyond blood. Her friendships were deeply rooted, loyal, and sister like, and she loved her people fiercely. In 2010, Camille graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Nursing. Her commitment to caring for others continued throughout her life, eventually leading her to earn her Master's degree in Nursing from Virginia State University in 2019. For Camille, nursing was never just a career. Her heart was especially drawn to mental health and to helping people feel seen, understood, supported, and whole. That passion ultimately became the foundation of her professional life, where she served as a Clinical Mental Health Director. In that role, Camille dedicated herself to supporting individuals through some of life's most vulnerable and difficult moments. She believed deeply in caring for people beyond what could be seen on the surface and understood the importance of compassion, advocacy, dignity, and simply being heard. Her leadership was rooted in the same qualities she carried into every part of her life: honesty, empathy, strength, and a genuine desire to help others. Whether through her work, her friendship, or simply the way she showed up for the people around her, Camille had a gift for making others feel heard and reminding them that they mattered. In 2013, Camille married her husband, Jae Stewart, and together they built a life centered around love, family, laughter, and their three beautiful children, Zoey, Olivia, and Jae Jae. To Jae, she was a wife, partner, best friend, and the heart of their home. To her children, she was love in its purest form: their protector, their encourager, their biggest supporter, and the preson whose presence made home feel like home. Camille leaves behind her loving husband, Jae; her children, Zoey, Olivia, and Jae Jae; her father, David; her brother in law, Shawn Stewart, and his wife, Mica; her niece, Logan; Along with her friends Celeste, Mandy, Melissa and cousin Jasmine. In a loss almost impossible to put into words, Camille's beloved mother, Jennifer, joined her in Heaven shortly after her passing. While those left behind carry the weight of losing them both, there is comfort in imagining mother and daughter reunited once again.
